Alfredo Muro, Peruvian interpreter, composer, arranger and improviser taught himself the guitar at an early age with rapid progress. He was soon awarded a scholarship to learn with Maestro Pepe Torres. At the age of thirteen, Alfredo took the top prize in a nationally televised competition, featuring musicians from over a hundred schools.

He pursued his studies with two well-known Peruvian guitar masters, Octavio Ticona and Carlos Hayre, gaining mastery of harmony and the rich variety of Peruvian folklore. These experiences were complemented by four years of intense studies with the great guitarists Manuel Lopez Ramos, Frank Costa, John Doan and Alfredo Escande. He also studied harmony and counterpoint with the distinguished Mexican Maestro Jose Suarez.

Today Alfredo Muro, lives in Guanajuato City in Mexico, shares the joy of his musical talent while performing and composing at international guitar festivals and concerts, as well as teaching at his Guitar Studio. These three passions provide the basis for the success of this talented musician in constant evolution.

In July 2017 he was nominated for the Añomi Advertising Agency and the Latin American Association of Writers and Artists, receiving the Eureka trophy for Quality and Artistic Excellence for his artistic career as well as receiving a Diploma of Honour in Humanistic Ethics.

In May 2018, he played at the Encuentro Internacional de Guitarras de Salamanca-Mexico and performed for the first time in Japan. In November of 2018 he was invited to play the Suite Indiana Concert with the Orquesta Sinfonica de la Universidad de Guanajuato.
2019 is an exciting year for him, it includes three North American tours: Florida, Colorado and Oregon, including the renowned Big Art Festival in Sanibel Island, celebrating its 40th anniversary, joining great artists such as Sharon Isbin, Judy Collins, the Dover Quartet and the Pacifica Quartet. These are followed by a tour in France and in Spain after which he performs for the very first time in Mauritius.

He is presently recording two new CD’s interpreting two Latin American giants, Astor Piazzolla & Antonio Carlos Jobim, and including some of his own compositions as well as the premiere recording of Jose Barrense-Dias’s Brazilian Suite dedicated to Alfredo Muro.

“Alfredo Muro proves there are no frontiers between classical and pop music. He glides, in a very elegant way, between the two types, from Villa Lobos, Prelude n°3 to Tom Jobim,” Carlos Lyra.
